From rural school to doctorate... how will you change a life today?
As a boy, Eric didn’t have much hope for his future. He was the youngest of 11 siblings. His mom singled-handedly scraped together a living for them all, selling textiles in the market to put food on the table. That hand-to-mouth existence is all Eric knew, and he had no reason to expect his life would be any different in adulthood.

His education was erratic. He was in and out of different schools, depending on what school his mom could afford at the time, if any. That all changed when he started attending Mukono Boarding School when he was in Primary 5 (5th Grade). Shortly after he started there, so did Sister Schools! Eric still remembers the electrifying feeling at the school when our staff delivered the first load of school supplies.

There were boxes full of pencils, crayons, books and more! Holding these tools of education inspired Eric. With these simple gifts, he built a connection with a child half a world away, and suddenly the possibilities for his future seemed infinite.

With ongoing support from Sister Schools, Eric was able to stay at Mukono Boarding, and he thrived thanks to continuous education and well-stocked classrooms. After graduating, he continued on to college, and was the first in his family to earn a university degree! He is currently working as a pharmaceutical sales rep, saving to pursue his doctorate degree, and living a life of stability and prosperity that his younger self could only dream of.
And it all started because people like you cared enough to partner with him. We’re so proud of Eric! But the truth is there are hundreds more children just like him waiting for their own chance to build successful futures.

It costs an average of just $21 to keep a child in our program for a whole year. Will you make a year end gift today to help students like Eric?
