McDonald International School
Welcome, McDonald International! We're excited to be working with you this year. As a local nonprofit dedicated to cultivating compassion and generosity in students across the globe, we believe that every child has something to learn and something to give. Our year-long program connects schools in Seattle and Uganda, giving students the opportunity to learn about each other and share resources. Here is how Sister Schools will partner with McDonald International this year and connect you to your partner school, Mayangayanga Primary School.​
Program Overview
​Sister Schools' program begins with a presentation at McDonald, where we teach students about the lives of students at Mayangayanga, including their culture, language, and food. We then invite you to participate in a two-week-long supply drive where you can donate your new and used school supplies to your partner school in Mayangayanga.

After we sort the donated supplies, we ship the supplies to Mayangayanga Primary School. We then distribute the supplies, and the students at Mayangayanga prepare a special gift for McDonald International. In the spring, Sister Schools returns to McDonald with a second presentation showing you the impact your generosity has made, and presenting you with your gift from the students at Mayangayanga.

In addition to supporting students in Mayangayanga with critical school supplies, we are inviting McDonald students to contribut financially to purchase backpacks for their partner school.

Many Ugandan students carry their books and notebooks to class in their hands or in a cast off plastic grocery bag. A backpack of their own makes their walks to school easier, protects their supplies, and boosts their confidence.
