Return Presentations Celebrate Shared Connections

As the school year comes to a close, we are celebrating a powerful milestone: the culmination of return presentations across five partner schools and a year of meaningful global connection.
Over the past year, more than 2,300 Seattle-area students participated in our program, building relationships that extended far beyond their classrooms. Through shared learning, cultural exchange, and collective action, students developed a deeper understanding of their peers in Uganda. Along the way, they also discovered their own ability to create change.
The return presentations brought those connections vividly to life. Students had the opportunity to see the very school supplies they helped collect and send, now in the hands of their peers in Uganda. What was once an abstract act of giving became tangible, personal, and deeply real.
A highlight of each presentation was a dynamic video from their partner schools in Uganda. Filled with joyful dances, heartfelt thank-you messages, and glimpses into daily school life, the videos offered an authentic window into another world, one that now feels much closer. Students didn’t just learn about global connection; they experienced it.
Our students in Uganda were proud to share their culture with their new friends in Seattle. You can see one example from our students at Kiyunga Primary School who shared a traditional dance of the Batooro, a Bantu ethnic group indigenous to western Uganda. What a fun way to celebrate culture, community, and shared joy across continents!
These experiences leave a lasting impression. Students walk away not only inspired, but confident in their ability to make a difference. The world feels smaller, more connected... and full of possibility.
As we reflect on this year, we are proud of what our students have accomplished together. Their empathy, curiosity, and action are building bridges that will continue to grow long after the school year ends.
