This year, Bennett Elementary joined the Sister Schools network for the very first time, bringing our leadership development and global competency curriculum to their classrooms. Through an engaging lesson, Bennett students explored what it means to be global citizens, learned about their peers in Uganda and put empathy into action through a school supply drive that will help those communities access essential learning materials.
Now, that schoolwide effort is being championed in a new way through an exciting partnership with the Bennett Elementary PTSA. As an official partner organization, the PTSA is helping to extend the impact of Sister Schools’ mission by connecting families and community members to the program. Their support enables students’ learning to come to life, reinforcing classroom lessons about generosity and leadership with real-world participation from the entire school community.
Through this collaboration, Sister Schools will host a booth at Bennett’s upcoming Multicultural Night, where families can learn more about our work in Uganda, and find meaningful ways to get involved. This partnership also creates opportunities for mutual promotion, allowing Bennett PTSA and Sister Schools to highlight one another’s initiatives that empower students to grow as compassionate, globally minded citizens.
The Bennett PTSA’s engagement demonstrates a powerful model of how parent organizations can enhance student experiences, deepen school community involvement, and multiply the impact of Sister Schools’ work. We are grateful to the Bennett staff, students, and families for their enthusiasm and partnership, and we are excited to see more PTSAs join in helping students connect, serve, and lead globally.
