Program Graduate Returns to Serve on Board

Updated: Mar 7

Sister Schools is so pleased to welcome another new Board Member to our team. Rob Bickford is a special addition because he is a Sister Schools program graduate. This is the first time we’ve had a graduate join the Board, and we are so proud to reach this moment in our history. Rob’s ongoing commitment to giving back is living proof of our long-term impact, and we are so excited to have him on board!

Currently, Rob is serving as the Senior Director of Finance at Third Harmonic Bio, a biotech company focused on developing treatments for inflammatory diseases. He leads several key functions, including financial planning & analysis, treasury, contracts, and equity administration. He is proud to be a part of the biotech industry, which has the potential to change lives and give hope to patients facing debilitating diseases. He says, “Being part of that mission makes my work as a finance person even more meaningful.” Rob’s financial background and expertise will be greatly appreciated on our Board where he will serve as Treasurer.

Rob grew up in Seattle and has always felt a deep connection to the Pacific Northwest, with it’s beautiful mountains, lakes and rivers. He and his wife are raising their daughter here, and are excited to share their love of this region with her. In his spare time, he plays guitar—everything from classical music to heavy metal – while also continuing his never-ending quest to bake the perfect pizza!

When he was in elementary school, Rob participated in the Sister Schools program. It became a turning point for him, ultimately leading him back to Sister Schools and serving as a Board member. “It was one of my earliest experiences with personal philanthropy,” he explained, “and one of the first times I realized that I could have a real impact on someone else’s life from thousands of miles away. Now, years later, it’s an honor to give back to a program that shaped my early understanding of philanthropy.”

Having experienced the impact of our program first-hand, Rob recognizes the importance of our mission. He says, “Many kids don’t get the chance to experience the power of giving unless their families are actively involved in philanthropy. Sister Schools changes that. It empowers young students to recognize their ability to create change in the world. That’s what makes this mission so special.”

Welcome on board, Rob – we're glad you’re here!

If you, or someone you know is interested in joining the Board of Directors, we are always looking for talented people who are willing to serve. Please contact governance@sisterschools.org for more information.
